Citizenship Ceremony

Types of ceremony

Group ceremony

We can usually arrange for you to join a group ceremony within a few weeks. Citizenship Ceremonies are usually held in the Ceremony Room in Newham Town Hall, East Ham.

You should aim to be at the office about 5 minutes before the ceremony starts and bring your identification and Home Office letter with you.  If you arrive after the ceremony starts you will not be allowed to join the ceremony and will need to re-book.

  • At present, due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, ceremonies are much smaller and no guests are allowed to attend.
  • We also do not currently include the attendance of a civic dignitary or the National Anthem.
  • You must wear a face covering when attending your ceremony.

Group ceremonies are held at Newham Town Hall, East Ham, Barking Road, E6 2RP every Tuesday.

Private ceremony

If you wish to arrange a ceremony quickly or you would like to celebrate becoming a British citizen in a more personal way, you can book a private ceremony online.

  • These ceremonies are much quicker and only take about 15 minutes.
  • You can bring one guest with you to your private ceremony if you wish.
  • You should aim to be at the office about 10 minutes before your ceremony time and bring your identification and the Home Office letter with you.
  • You must wear a face covering when attending your ceremony.

Private ceremonies are held at Newham Town Hall, East Ham, Barking Road, E6 2RP throughout the week.

You will have to pay a fee of £105 per adult for this service.
