Once we have received your completed form we will then contact you to advise if you need to arrange an appointment with a registrar for the re-registration of the birth.

Unable to attend the register office where the birth occurred

If you are unable to get to the register office in the district where the birth occurred, you can re-register at another register office by declaration and should take the application forms to the register office where you wish to be seen.

Most re-registrations can be authorised in the register office. Some applications have to be referred to the Registrar General for consideration, for example if a court order is involved or if the marriage took place outside England and Wales.

How much does it cost to re-register a birth?

There is no charge for re-registration but you may wish to buy a birth certificate during the appointment for £11.
