Making referrals to #HelpNewham

If you are working with vulnerable or shielded residents who require support with any of the following, please refer them to the #HelpNewham service

  • Food and essentials
  • Telephone chat/befriending service.

If you wish to refer a vulnerable resident to the council you can do by:

  • completing the online form
  • via email [email protected]  or
  • call London Borough of Newham call centre line on:  020 8430 2000
Make a referral

The council’s #HelpNewham team will call the resident back to confirm which elements of the #HelpNewham offer they need so it is important you refer the individual with a name, phone number and address.

Any VCS interested in sharing bulk data to help support vulnerable residents please send this in spreadsheet form to [email protected]

If a vulnerable resident has less than five days of food or other supplies in their home, you can refer using the same referral form, email and phone number above, but put “URGENT” in the title of your email.

For urgent same day, WEEKEND cases only there is a separate service which provides emergency food supplies covering 1 to 2 days. People referred to this emergency WEEKEND only cover will not automatically be added for weekly food supplies from #HelpNewham.  If requests are sent before 11am on a Saturday and before 2pm on a Sunday then the providers can guarantee a parcel will be sent out the same day. Thank you to Ascension Trust, UKIM Masjid Ibrahim & Islamic Centre and Subco Trust for providing this service.

If a resident has received a letter from NHS Shield they will need to register using the details included in the letter that they received from central government. They can then indicate what type of support they need. Please support them through this process if they need help.
