International Women's Day - Give to Gain
Friday 13 March, 5.30-7.30pm, East Ham Library
Join Newham in celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 as we honour the remarkable contributions of women in our community.
This year’s theme, Give To Gain, shines a light on the power of generosity, collaboration, and shared support. When we give—through knowledge, resources, advocacy, mentoring, or time—we open doors for women and strengthen our communities.
The event will feature inspiring talks from local women making an impact:
- Athena Bashar (Modest Moves) – sharing her leadership journey and how she empowers women through physical and mental wellbeing.
- Veronica Revuelta – an independent curator, critic, and artist committed to accessible, inclusive art and cultural experiences.
- Fatima Said (Hanouna) – a recent Trailblazers participant discussing her experience launching a business in Newham.
Plus, take part in our ‘Paint Your Pledge’ workshop with artist Momtaz Begum-Hossain, where you’ll contribute to a communal artwork reflecting what you will Give to Gain this International Women’s Day.
Dates, water, and a light dinner will be provided in consideration of attendees observing Ramadan.
