Be Connected Team

Loneliness Awareness Week

What is Loneliness Awareness week?

Loneliness Awareness Week is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and encouraging open, honest conversations about how it affects us all. It’s about building supportive, connected communities, and everyone in Newham has a role to play.

This year, the Community Pathway team is marking Loneliness Awareness Week by running a week of events and activities designed to create spaces for residents to meet and connect.

The theme: “Giving Loneliness A Voice”, continues that focus. It’s about recognising that loneliness is something many of us experience at different points in our lives and that getting together and talking about it can make a huge positive difference (Marmalade Trust 2026)

Why It Matters in Newham

In Newham, we believe that connection is a shared responsibility. Whether you're reaching out to a neighbour, joining a local group, or volunteering your time, small actions can make a big difference.

Through our Be Connected campaign, we’re working to support residents who are experiencing chronic loneliness—and to create spaces where everyone feels welcome, valued, and part of something bigger.
