COVID-19 during winter
On 14 September, the government set out its COVID-19 Response – Autumn and Winter Plan 2021 for managing COVID-19 in England this autumn and winter.
To implement and support the winter plan, Newham are:
- Continuing to offer testing - rapid test kits are available at various locations across the borough and PCR test sites will remain open in Newham . Find out more on Newham’s testing webpage
- Continuing to urge people and settings to be responsible – wash hands, make sure there is good ventilation, wear a face covering in crowded places, stay at home if you are feeling unwell, test regularly and as required, and use the NHS Test & Trace app.
- Continuing the vaccine programme, supporting residents to get their COVID-19 vaccinations including vaccination for 12 to 15-year-olds in schools. Find out more information on the NHS website for Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine for children aged 12 to 15.
- Implementing the COVID-19 booster vaccination programme for everyone over 16 who had a 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 3 months ago. Find out more on the NHS COVID booster page.
