Potential items of Second World War ordnance in Silvertown Dock: Update – 13 June
No further action required.
Following investigation over the past few days, the second of the two items thought highly likely to be ordnance has also been cleared.
Identification and salvage work will continue in the dock but no further action is required at this time.

The first of the two items, thought highly likely to be ordnance dating back to the Second World War, has now been cleared.
The investigation into the second potential item has begun. However, no further action will be taken until Monday 12 June 2023.
The safety and welfare of the local community remains our top priority. The increased Police presence in the area, who are there for your reassurance and safety, will continue.
If the suspected ordnance is confirmed, it may require disposal measures to be undertaken in the Dock by experts. This could create a loud noise in the local area. Please do not be alarmed.
The immediate area around the Silvertown Dock site will be cordoned off and activities by ordnance experts will not be visible.

Potential Second World War ordnance in Silvertown Dock: Upcoming investigations and work
Information for residents and businesses
Development work in Silvertown Dock has uncovered two potential items of ordnance dating back to the Second World War under water on the dock bed.
The Metropolitan Police working with the London Borough of Newham and developers, the Silvertown Partnership, are in the process of identifying the items. If required, the expert disposal of items will be done safely.
Additional investigations and work is scheduled to take place on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 June 2023.
