The Council wishes to announce that Abi Gbago, our Chief Executive, will be leaving us on 18 July.
Abi is planning to take a career break and spend time with her daughter. Abi plans to remain a part of the local government family.
Abi has been a passionate leader and has shown commitment to the borough and its workforce as well as championing equality. She has a true understanding of and empathy with the communities of Newham.
Abi said "Newham is a wonderful borough and one I have been proud to serve. I am grateful for all the support and encouragement I have received from within and outside the Council. I wish the Council well on the next stage of its journey. I will miss all of the workforce, elected members and partners that I have had the pleasure of working with, but it is time to rest and reset after navigating the Council through a busy nearly two years"
