There is still lots of time to sign up for a summer of fun in Newham.
We’ve 100s of events taking place at libraries and youth zones across the borough, just the thing to keep youngsters occupied during the long school break.
From dance, bingo, coding and fitness there’s something for children and young people of all ages in a safe place.
Highlights for under 5s include:
- Storytelling with Discover: That’s Not My…Dinosaur: Tails, horns, flippers and spines... dinosaurs come in ALL kinds of colours, shapes and touchy-feely textures. An intimate and interactive storytelling for our smaller visitors.
- Play and Art: Come join us for a creative time making simple art with your toddler – just bring your imagination and enjoy some colourful bonding time.
- Sing-along: Join us for a joyful time of rhymes, songs, and storytelling.
- A Short Adventure Story (Sensory): A fun, short adventure-themed storytelling session for under 5s.
Highlights for younger children include:
- Tie and Dye T-shirt Craft: Bring an old light-coloured T-shirt and get creative with tie-dye fun! Join us for a hands-on activity where you can twist, tie, and dye your way to a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
- Make A Slime Pot: Get ready to squish, stretch, and sparkle! Join our Slime Workshop for gooey fun and make your very own slime to take home.
- The Growing Tale: Join the Drama Geezers for a fun, interactive workshop where children use improv and imagination to create a chapter of a story inspired by the Story Garden.
- Biscuit Decorating: Decorate your own tasty treat in a fun, hands-on session, then enjoy eating your delicious creation.
- Iroko Drumming: Feel the rhythm with Iroko Drumming! Join our summer session for energetic beats, cultural fun, and hands-on drumming excitement.
Highlights for older children and young people (up to 25 yrs old with SEND) include:
- Bracelet making workshop: Learn step-by-step techniques to create your own unique bracelets. This hands-on session encourages creativity while focusing on the importance of patience and persistence when learning new skills.
- Fitness Circuit: Forest Gate Youth Zone will be hosting a fitness circuit which will help the young people stay active through the summer. There will be different stations and variations of exercises to ensure the activity is as inclusive as possible.
- Football Coaching with West Ham United: West Ham United Foundation will be hosting football coaching sessions over the course of the summer at Forest Gate Youth Zone. These sessions offer an opportunity for those of all abilities to receive professional coaching from an experienced West Ham Foundation coach and semi-professional footballer.
- Barbering: Join our exciting new Barbering Project designed just for young people who want to get hands-on with barbering skills, tips and industry secrets.
