Just over 96 per cent of all pupils in Newham have been offered one of their first three preferred secondary schools on National Offer Day (Monday 2nd March 2026)
A total of 3951 Newham residents applied for places at secondary schools in Newham by the national closing date of 31 October 2025. 97.07 per cent of applicants were offered a place at one of their preferred schools to start in September 2026 according to London wide admission data. Councillor Sarah Ruiz said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our brilliant secondary schools, where the dedicated staff, teachers and governors help deliver some of the nation’s highest achieving students and excellent results. It’s brilliant to see the large majority of our young people have secured a place at one of their top three local preferred schools. They are the future of Newham, and the future is bright.
“Our previous investment in Newham’s schools has ensured we can provide excellent educational opportunities to the vast majority of our young people, enabling them to achieve their full potential. I hope they, their parents and carers are happy with today’s news and look forward to starting the next chapter of their learning in September.” Only 91 pupils (2.3 per cent of applicants) who applied by the national deadline could not be offered a place at any of their preferred schools. These children were allocated alternative places at the closest school to their home which had places remaining.
