London Climate Action Week in Newham

Free events across Newham from 20–29 June exploring greener neighbourhoods, warmer homes, local nature and practical community action for a healthier, fairer future.

This June, Newham is joining communities across London to celebrate practical action that makes life better now and helps build a stronger future for everyone.

From growing food locally and reducing waste, to creating warmer homes and greener neighbourhoods, London Climate Action Week in Newham brings together residents, schools, libraries, community groups and local organisations to share ideas, skills and stories that strengthen our borough.

These free events focus on what matters most: healthy communities, lower household costs, opportunities for young people, local pride, and a fairer future for the next generation.

Throughout the Week

Location: All Newham Libraries

A borough-wide library collection exploring the connections between climate, community and everyday life.

This specially curated selection brings together stories of local heritage, nature, family life, work and belonging. Discover books that explore how people in Newham and around the world are responding to change in practical, creative and fair ways — from caring for green spaces and improving homes to strengthening community connections and protecting what people value most about where they live.

Alongside the collection, the Library will host some workshops throughout the week, creating space for residents to come together, share ideas and explore these themes through conversation, creativity and community-led discussion.
