Mayor of Newham Forhad Hussain said: “We’re getting on with the job of making positive differences to the lives of people in Newham. The new cabinet appointments will allow us to focus on the issues that matter most to our community.
“You told us you wanted more of a focus on improving community safety, so I have appointed a dedicated cabinet member who will work with council staff and partners, including the police, to ensure everyone feels safe and welcome in their neighbourhoods.
“I have also appointed a cabinet member for inclusive growth who will fight for local businesses and entrepreneurs and push to create wealth in communities across Newham.
“Our cabinet member for residents’ experience will make sure that the council is doing all it can to respond quickly to the needs of local people. I want people to feel that the council is approachable and accessible, a place where you can go for support when you need it.
“Our new cabinet member for council performance will be focused on the wider improvement journey of the council. This means making sure the results of our annual residents’ survey feeds into decision making and ensuring we are a high-performing organisation in the long-term.
“Each of the new cabinet members bring a unique set of skills and experience and are united by a shared commitment to public service.”
