Newham Council are aware and supporting residents with loss of water supply to their properties

Newham Council was made aware that a number of homes in Upton Park E6, were suffering a loss of water supply, at 4pm on Friday 6 November.

Update: Sunday 8 November 2026 at 14:30pm

Newham Council continues to work closely with Thames Water to restore water supplies to 65 properties affected by the ongoing disruption in Upton Park.

Following our previous update, Thames Water engineers attended the site overnight, identified a fault and carried out repairs. Unfortunately, these repairs have not yet resulted in a full and sustained restoration of water supply.

Although Thames Water has advised that the fault has been repaired, low water pressure means that it is taking longer than expected for the water tank supplying the affected properties to refill.

As a temporary measure, our repair teams are isolating the tank to allow it to refill before restoring water supplies to the affected blocks. This process may need to be repeated while water pressure stabilises, meaning residents may continue to experience intermittent water supplies.

Our teams are continuing to monitor water pressure and tank levels closely, working alongside Thames Water to restore a reliable water supply as quickly as possible.

Supporting affected residents:

Our teams have continued working throughout the weekend to support residents while the disruption is resolved:

  • Bottled water has been delivered to all residents and will continue to be delivered 3 times a day until we receive confirmation that water has been fully restored.

  • Vulnerable residents have been identified, with Council teams carrying out door-to-door welfare checks.

  • Washing facilities have been arranged at Newham Leisure Centre and Atherton Leisure Centre for affected residents.

  • Council repairs teams remain on site, working alongside Thames Water to monitor the situation and restore normal water pressure.

An update letter has been delivered to all affected residents, providing the latest information on the disruption and the support available.

A copy of the letter can be viewed here.

We recognise the significant inconvenience this disruption has caused. Restoring a consistent water supply remains our priority. We will continue to work closely with Thames Water and keep residents updated until water supplies have been fully restored.
