Dawn till dusk relay on National Fitness Day

Newham

To celebrate National Fitness Day on Wednesday 22 September, Newham residents are invited to join a dawn till dusk relay at Newham Leisure Centre.

Organised by activeNewham on behalf of Newham Council, the aim of this year’s National Fitness Day is to show how fitness and physical activity unites and benefits people.

The Council would like to see residents join activeNewham staff, members, volunteers, and local club members from 7am to 7pm either jog, skip or walk round the track.

Lead member for adult health and social care, Councillor Zulfiqar Ali said: “I will certainly be taking part, as this is a fun opportunity for residents to come together in a safe way and experience the benefits of physical activity.

“Book a place and help us to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity and highlight how it enables us all to lead healthier and happier lives.”

To ensure everyone’s safety booking will be essential and spaces limited.  To take part please email Emily.apps@activenewham.org.uk

To mark National Fitness Day and support Newham residents to lead a healthy lifestyle, activeNewham will also be announcing a fantastic membership offer next week, so follow @activeNewham on Twitter or @active_newham on Instagram.

Whatever physical activity you do on the day, whether it’s walking the kids to school, running in the park, or gardening, share your photos on Twitter tagging ‘#NewhamNFD’ and ‘#FitnessDay’ and include @NewhamLondon and @activeNewham and you could win a £50 activity voucher with activeNewham.
