Statement from Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz, OBE “Newham Council is extremely shocked and saddened by the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. We have the largest population of Ukrainians in the country. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them and their families, as well as communities in the wider region affected by this conflict and who will also be deeply concerned about the situation in Ukraine. We are working closely with communities, businesses and voluntary and faith sector organisations so that we can be ready to assist and provide a community level response.”
