Get checked this Diabetes Week on our Newham Health Bus

Get checked this Diabetes Week on our Newham Health Bus.

This Diabetes Week (13-19 June) we’re encouraging residents to get free diabetes checks on our Newham Health Bus, which will be visiting locations around the borough. Find out where we’ll be at www.newham.gov.uk/diabetes

Newham Health Collaborative (NHC) will be working alongside Newham Council to offer blood sugar and BMI checks as well as blood pressure and cholesterol checks to eligible residents during Diabetes Week on the Health Bus.

Diabetes affects 28,000 Newham residents, about one in 14 people, and those from South Asian, Black African and African-Caribbean backgrounds have an increased risk of developing it.

There are lots of small things you can do to live well, like walking every day; eating more vegetables and fewer sugary foods and drinks. We have lots of FREE support in Newham to help you. Find what’s right for you and sign up today: www.newham.gov.uk/diabetes

If you can’t make it to our bus, you can check your risk of Type 2 diabetes using this online tool. Find out the signs and symptoms of T2 diabetes and speak to your GP if you experience any of these.
