Newham celebrates 10 years of community co-production

This month marks a decade since the foundation of the Newham Co-Production Forum.

This week Newham residents will be invited to celebrate the forum’s achievements since it was established in 2012, as well as the spirit of community collaboration upon which co-production is based.

A free event is being held in Stratford on Thursday 16 June at 1-4pm with special awards to be given in recognition of those who used co-production to deliver services in the borough. There will also be entertainment, refreshments along with stalls and speeches providing information on local services and community organisations.

Cllr Neil Wilson, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, said: “I am delighted to mark ten years since the creation of the Newham Co-Production Forum, which has done so much to help inform our provision of services.

“The forum has brought the council and local organisations closer to Newham residents who use our services, helping service providers meet the particular needs of the local community, while ensuring that service users feel they are both  being  heard, and listened to, and have a stake in the system.”

For ten years, the Newham Co-Production Forum has brought together professionals in health and adult care, council staff and the residents and carers who use local services, providing an opportunity for providers and users to get to know one another and better understand how to deliver services that work for everyone.

The forum and its co-production work supports the council’s ‘Towards a Better Newham’ strategy in prioritising the health, care and happiness of our residents.

The event will take place at Highway Vineyard Church, 88a Romford Road, E15 4EH. Register for a free ticket here or contact the Newham Co-Production Forum via email (co-productionteam@newham.gov.uk) or by phone (07970 406 126 or 07976 716 741).
