Newham Council shows support for Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week 2024

Making communities safer #ASBawarenessweek

Newham Council has joined a national campaign to tackle Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and keep people in Newham safe.

Newham Council Supports Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2024

Newham Council is proud to participate in the national Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week 2024, a campaign dedicated to tackling ASB and ensuring the safety of our community. Taking place from November 18th to 23rd, the week encourages residents to take a stand against ASB and highlights the support available to those affected.

As part of the campaign, our Community Safety Enforcement Team (CSET) and Safer Neighbourhood Police Teams will conduct high-visibility patrols in targeted neighbourhoods and hotspot areas, engaging directly with residents.

Organised by Resolve, the UK’s leading ASB and community safety organisation, the week features a series of events all across the UK involving Councils, Police Forces, Housing Associations, charities, community groups and sports clubs.

Street-Based Engagement Schedule:

  • Monday 18th: Partnership Day – Canning Town
  • Tuesday 19th: Victims Day – Green Street
  • Wednesday 20th: Let’s Talk ASB Day – East Ham
  • Thursday 21st: Community Heroes Day – Meridian Square/Westfield
  • Friday 22nd: Young People’s Day – East Ham
  • Saturday 23rd: ASB and Health Day – Stratford Broadway

Library Pop-Up Engagements:

The Council’s ASB team will also host pop-up stalls across Newham libraries. Residents can learn about ASB prevention, speak with officers, report issues in real time, and complete surveys to share their feedback.

  • Monday 18th: Canning Town Library
  • Tuesday 19th: Green Street Library
  • Wednesday 20th: East Ham Library
  • Thursday 21st: Stratford Library

Newham Council is urging members of the public not to suffer in silence if they experience ASB. Incidents can be reported to the anti-social behaviour team at Newham Council, or to the Police if people feel that they are at immediate risk or in danger.
