Recycling - What you can't put in

Please see below for a list of what you can't put in your recyling green bins with orange lids, and orange sacks.

Types of cardboard

  • Greasy pizza boxes (ripped off clean lids are fine)

  • Juice, soup, milk and similar cartons

Paper

  • Books (donate these to your local charity shop or take them to Jenkins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre)
  • Wet wipes
  • Tissues

Plastics

  • Plastic packaging
  • Margarine tubs
  • Plastic meat trays
  • Yoghurt pots and lids
  • Carrier bags
  • Polystyrene
  • Cling film

Organics

  • Food
  • Green garden waste (please book a collection here)

Other

  • Textiles and shoes (please take them to your closest recycling bank)
  • Nappies
  • Glass bottles and jars (these items are mechanically extracted from your rubbish for recycling.)
  • Hypodermic needles or other sharp objects – see Clinical waste page
  • Large metals - take to Jenkins Lane Re-use and Recycling Centre
  • Paint and paint tins
  • Electrical items
  • Toys
