Introducing a Weekly Food Waste Recycling Collection
We're launching a new weekly food waste recycling collection following the introduction of new UK Government legislation. In November 2025, we successfully introduced the food waste recycling service to 10% of the borough and now it's your time to join your neighbours!
Your food waste will have a future. The food waste we collect will be turned into renewable energy and fertiliser. By doing your part you will be helping to cut carbon emissions, save money, and tackle the climate emergency.
Each household will receive a food waste kitchen caddy, an introductory roll of liners and a lockable outdoor food waste bin. Your food waste bin will be collected weekly.
Timeline:
This new service will be rolled out in three phases, and you will receive information when collections are due to begin in your area.
- Phase 1 – November 2025: 10% of the borough, both street-level properties and flats.
- Phase 2 – Autum 2026: All remaining street-level properties
- Phase 3 – Spring 2027: All remaining flats and flats above shops
