Safia Xavier, Youth Worker at the Forest Gate Youth Zone, said: "We developed this six-month project to help address the negative impact of the pandemic on the health and wellbeing of our young people.

"The project provided a safe space for young people to be listened to, where they could express their thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgment.

"Young people were also given access to a gym and wellbeing room, where we taught them about relaxation techniques and self-care."

She added that the feedback received from young people was "extremely positive".

Safia also said: "The project really helped reduce their stress and anxiety levels.

"Young people reported feeling happier and appreciated the support offered.  They really valued the space they were given to talk about anything they were going through."
