Five onwards - Eye tests every two years

When your child is in the reception year of school, they will be entitled to a free eye test, provided by Newham’s School Health service. Find more about vision tests.

From this point onwards, your child will be entitled to an eye test every two years.
Five onwards - Flu vaccine

Once your child starts in reception class in school, they are entitled to a flu (influenza) vaccine every year from reception until Year Six.

The vaccine will prevent your child from catching flu, which can be an unpleasant illness and lead to serious health issues.

Find out more about the flu vaccine on the NHS website.
Five onwards - Dental checks

It is important that your child has regular dental checks to make sure their teeth and gums are healthy and prevent any future problems.

Dental checks are free to all children under 18 years old. How often your child will need to have them can vary from every three months to every two years.
