Funding for community projects

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Community Fund

This year, Her Majesty the Queen became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, following 70 years of service.

An extended bank holiday from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June 2022 will give communities throughout the United Kingdom the opportunity to commemorate the event.

This will be an historic moment and we know people will want to come together to mark it in style. Newham Council wants to help local people do just that so we have set up The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Community Fund  to help support community celebrations. It will be a wonderful opportunity for communities to come together to celebrate Her Majesty’s  achievements and service, as well as enjoy each other’s company.

  • The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Community Fund will open on 1 March and close on 31 March.
  • Residents and community groups are invited to organise commemorative or celebratory events for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June.
  • Grant applications can be made up to a maximum of £500.
  • Those receiving a grant will also receive a waiver of all non-statutory fees and charges such as road closures, hire of council community venues and parks. Please note that road closures for street parties can only be implemented on Sunday 5 June.
