Go For It grants
Go For It grants give funding to not-for-profit projects and regular activities that can bring communities together. In the past ten years, over 1750 projects have received combined funding of almost £1.75 million.
Projects or activities that qualify for a grant
To qualify for a Go For It grant, your project must be a not-for-profit venture. Private businesses cannot apply.
We give funding for community-based ideas that offer residents regular activities they can participate in, for example, bringing people together with a shared interest in acting that leads to setting up a local amateur dramatics club.
You will need to demonstrate that your project will:
- Continue, if possible, after the grant has been spent
- Be open to Newham residents from all backgrounds
- Actively encourage Newham’s diverse community to come together
- Inspire people to get active, participate and fulfil their potential.
Projects or activities that don't qualify for a grant
You will not be eligible for a Go For It grant if your project or activity:
- Targets only a limited part of the borough’s diverse community
- Takes place outside Newham
- Has already received a Go For It grant for the same activity
- Is a one-off activity or event.
We cannot give you a grant to cover organisational or running costs that are not directly related to a specific activity programme.
Examples of previously funded projects
We have helped all sorts of projects and activities to get off the ground with Go For It grants. They include:
- local garden projects
- dance activities
- sports tournaments
- activities for older people
- children’s facilities
- community choirs.
How much funding can my project get?
We can offer a Go For It grant of up to £2,000 for activities that are likely to become sustainable.
And we also award smaller grants of up to £1000 for short-term projects.
