Community Gardens

Newham’s network of community gardens provides outdoor spaces to promote wellbeing while improving both physical and mental health and wellbeing. Community gardens have a range of projects throughout Newham.

A map of all our green spaces in Newham and info on how to get involved at each location is available at www.growsie.net/map/.

SUGi Pocket Forests

Newham Council has partnered with urban forestation expert SUGi to transform areas across the borough into biodiverse urban tree-filled spaces.

So far, the scheme has been brought to 7 primary schools in the borough through the Greening for Newham’s Next Generation project and will soon bring Pocket Forests to Newham Hospital's west entrance to transform it into a lush green space. Read about the launch of the scheme here.

Trees for Streets

Newham has partnered with Trees for Streets to bring additional biodiversity to Newham’s urban area guided by community input.

Planting trees helps to absorb air pollution such as carbon emissions, reduce flood risk, nurture wildlife, and reduce the effect of the Urban Heat Island (UHI).

If you’d like a tree to be planted on your street, would like to sponsor a tree, or just find out more about the scheme, go to the Trees for Streets Website: Trees for Streets - Let's Fill Our Streets With Trees.
