The Silent Twins + Panel
Film screening followed by discussion with experts about the infamous case of The Silent Twins, June and Jennifer Gibbons, who came from an immigrant family that settled in Wales from Barbados and were the only Black family in a small town in the 60s.

They were institutionalised at Broadmoor Hospital following years of silence (selective mutism) and teenage rebellion. Their story was captured by Marjorie Shiona Wallace CBE, a British investigative journalist, author and broadcaster. She is also the Founder and Chief Executive of mental health charity SANE. We shall explore how isolation, ostracisation, marginalisation and racism can affect mental health and well-being in the question and answer session afterwards.
