Day services for people with a Learning Disability

BSL Support

Learning Disability & Autism Services

We provide a wide range of day activities for adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities and Autism. We support people depending on their needs and this can be delivered one-to-one, two-to-one or in shared support settings. All of our services work towards improving skills and abilities that enable people to be as independent as possible.

The Preparing for Adulthood and Learning Disabilities teams provide the following day services to support people with a learning disability:

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) service provides specialist support for adults with learning disabilities and autism whose behaviours may challenge services. Using a person-centred and proactive approach, we work with each individual to understand their needs, strengths and goals, helping them to develop skills, increase independence and improve their quality of life.

Support plans are tailored to each person's needs and focus on promoting positive outcomes through meaningful activities, improved communication, greater community participation and the development of everyday living skills. We also work closely with families, carers and health and social care professionals to ensure joined-up support.

Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)

Our Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) service provides specialist day opportunities for adults with complex learning disabilities, physical disabilities and additional health needs.

Every person has an individual support plan based on their needs, interests and aspirations. Activities are designed to promote communication, sensory engagement, physical wellbeing and social interaction, helping people to participate in meaningful experiences while maintaining their health, independence and quality of life.

We work in partnership with families and health professionals to ensure each person receives coordinated, person-centred support in a safe and stimulating environment.

Preparing for Employment

Our Preparing for Employment service supports adults with learning disabilities and autism to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to move towards volunteering, training or paid employment.

Working alongside our dedicated Employment Coach, people receive personalised support to identify their goals, build workplace skills and prepare for employment. Support includes:

  • Work experience opportunities
  • Job searching, CV writing and application support
  • Interview preparation
  • Workplace skills development
  • Travel training
  • Liaison with local employers
  • In-work support, where appropriate

The service also helps people build confidence, improve communication and develop the independence needed to achieve their employment aspirations.
