Live Well Newham
The Live Well Newham Service is offering healthy weight programmes for adults, and for children & young people.
We want Newham residents to have a safe and supportive space in Better Leisure Centres and local community settings, to talk about healthy eating, healthy habits, and physical activity.
We are offering free 2-hour sessions, including a one-hour workshop, and one hour of free supported physical activity.
There are two ways you can get involved.
- Visit your GP to get a referral.
- This method is important if you have other health conditions that we need to know about.
- This is a useful way if you prefer to do things in person and like to avoid using technology or the internet.
- Your GP will then send us a form to our secure NHS email address, for us to assess and accept.
-
Self-refer to us using this link - https://www.better.org.uk/self-referral
- When you open the link, choose 'Newham' from the drop-down options
- After clicking on 'Newham' a new page opens to give us your personal details. Please give as much information as possible
Our courses are 12 weeks long, for 2 hours per session. We offer one hour as a workshop, and the second hour as supported physical activity. We will be based in the Better Newham Leisure Centres, with some courses being run at community venues later in 2025.
We will also offer an optional discounted membership to the leisure centres, exclusive to participants on our courses (less than half the normal price). This be offered during the programme to regular participants and will give you the discounted membership for 2 years.
