Key information your landlord must give you

From 1 May 2026, landlords must provide tenants with a written summary of key tenancy details. Here’s what it should include:

Information What it means
Landlord name & address Who the landlord is and where legal notices can be sent.
Tenant names All tenants listed on the tenancy.
Property address The address of the rented home.
Tenancy start date When you can first move in.
Rent amount & due date How much rent is charged and when it’s payable.
Rent increases Process under Section 13 of the Housing Act 1988.
Bills included Which utilities or services are included in rent or paid separately.
Deposit How much, and which government scheme it’s protected in.
Tenant ending tenancy Minimum notice you must give to leave (usually 2 months).
Landlord ending tenancy Legal grounds and notice required to end the tenancy.
Repairs & safety Your rights to a safe, well-maintained home (including gas, electrical, and structure).
Pets Your right to request a pet and the landlord’s duty to consider.
Disability adaptations Your right to request reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.
