Business parking permits can be purchased in periods of:
- 12 months, or
- 1 month (with the option for automatic renewal up to one year)
Eligibility
To be eligible for a Business parking permit, ALL of the following criteria must be met:
- be employed by or be the owner/Director of a business registered at a commercial address in Newham (residential addresses will not be accepted)
- you require the vehicle to travel in and around Newham for work-related activities (excluding commuting to or between places of work)
- the business address must not be part of a car-free development which prohibits business permits being issued
- the vehicle must be registered in the UK (foreign vehicles will not be accepted)
- your vehicle must not exceed 3.5m in height, 7.5m in length, or 3.5 tonnes in weight
Costs
Business parking permits are charged based on the emissions of the vehicle.

How to apply
You will need:
A letter from your employer or company on headed stationery and dated within three months of your permit application confirming:
- your employment and connection with the business
- vehicle registration
- the necessity of the vehicle for business purposes
- your vehicle insurance covers business use.
- The full business address in Newham
Handwritten documents are not accepted.
Vehicle Documents
If the vehicle is owned or leased by you, you must provide:
- UK Vehicle Registration Document (V5C / log book)
or - lease/hire agreement in your name and address (the agreement should include the Companies House registration number for the hire/lease company)
or - Mobility Certificate (not the Motability insurance) clearly stating your name and Newham address.
If the vehicle is a company vehicle, you must provide:
- a letter from your employer on headed stationery , dated within three months of the permit application which confirms your employment, why the business permit is needed, your full name and address, your vehicle registration number and confirmation that you are insured to drive the vehicle for business use.
Handwritten documents are not accepted.

You can apply online using MiPermit.
- Register for a business account on MiPermit Newham, or log in.
- Go to 'Buy digital permits' in your MiPermit account.
- Click on 'Business Permits' and complete the application form.
- Upload required documents.
- Make payment using a credit or debit card.

What happens next
Once you have submitted your application and made payment, you will receive an email confirmation the same day.
Your parking permit is then automatically activated (from the date you requested it to start).
Business parking permits are virtual, you do not need to display a permit on your vehicle.
Further checks will be carried out after the application is submitted. If any details are found to be incorrect, the permit may be cancelled and only part refunded.
Business parking permits must be renewed annually.
