Queen’s Market and Hamara Ghar Investment Strategy Study

Green street - queens market illustration

The investment to improve Queen’s Market and the Hamara Ghar continues and we are now going to focus our efforts on what can be achieved by keeping these important buildings.

Alongside looking at options to bring a much needed health centre, new library and community centre and more social housing, we are looking at more possibilities to bring greater positive impact to the area through a detail study which we have commissioned.

We prioritising two options only which will include retaining and modernising the Queen’s Market and Hamara Ghar buildings. The second option will also look at the possibilities for any new buildings above or around the market, and low rise buildings in front and behind the Hamara Ghar.

Beside all the works being done to improve the local area, Queen’s Market will remain open and will continue to serve the needs of Newham’s communities; and Hamara Ghar will continue to provide sheltered housing for all the residents who live there.
