Timed waste collections on busy streets

Information for landlords

If you are a landlord and the bins or bags at your property are usually collected from the street, it is your responsibility to tell your tenants to comply with the timed collections.

Information for businesses

If your business uses a bin, these changes will not affect you.

Businesses located on streets operating under the timed collection service are required to follow the same timed collection service as residents living in flats above shops.

Residents living above shops have been provided with orange and purple bags for residential waste only. If a business is found to be using these bags, enforcement action will be taken.

You must put out your Newham-approved green commercial waste bags, or the bags provided by your private waste contractor, during the permitted times on collection days.

If you use a private company to collect your waste, you must make sure they are aware that timed collections are in operation in the area.

Business waste presented outside the allocated times, or in residential/non-commercial bags, will be treated as illegal dumping (fly-tipping) and will be subject to enforcement action

Updated collection times and service information will be clearly displayed on the updated street signs. You must ensure that your waste is presented in accordance with the times shown on these signs.

We offer a commercial waste collection service for businesses in Newham, with a range of collection services available to businesses across the borough.

If you operate a business, you can request for us to provide your commercial waste and recycling services.

Our service is available Monday to Friday, from 9am to 4:30pm.
