Timed waste collections on busy streets

Information for landlords

If you are a landlord of the properties on a timed waste collection street, and the bags and bins are usually collected from the street, it is your responsibility to tell your tenants to comply with the timed collections.

Information for businesses

If your business uses a bin, these changes will not affect you. Businesses located on streets operating under the timed collection service, who use bags for their waste, are required to follow the same timed collection service as residents who live in flats above shops.

Residents living above shops have been provided with orange and purple bags, for residential waste only. You need to put out your Newham approved, green commercial waste bags, or the bags provided by your private contractor, during the permitted times only on the collection days. If you use a private company to collect your waste, you must make sure that they know there are timed collections in operation in the area.

We offer a commercial waste collection service for businesses in Newham. We offer a range of collection services to businesses within the borough. If you are operating a business, you can request to have us provide your commercial waste and recycling services.

Timed waste collections: Information for businesses using private waste contractors

If you put rubbish bags and bins or any recycling on the street for collection, you must do so at the set times on the set collection days for the street you operate on.

These times and days are set out in the table below.

Do not put out commercial waste on the street outside of these times.
