What is a Timed Waste Collection?
For residents or businesses who live in flats above shops on busy roads who have no space to store a bin on their property, have to use a bag service for their recycling and waste. Living on a timed waste collection road means that you will only be able to place your bags out for collection within your set times each day.
If you are currently using a bin which you permanently store on your property, timed collections will not affect you and you should continue to use your bin as normal.
Please note, your collections are due to start once you receive your first roll of purple and orange bags in July.
How does it work?
You will receive purple and orange bags every six months.
- Purple bags are for rubbish only
- Orange bags is for recycling only
- Put bags out at the set collection times only, which you can find here
- Place them under the timed collection signs on your street
- Tie bags securely
Residents who don’t follow the correct procedure not only risk their street being littered with household rubbish or recycling but may also face a fine. Putting rubbish or recycling out on the street for collection at any other time may result in a £200 fixed penalty notice, £1000 fine or prosecution.
