Maryland
The Maryland people-friendly streets project is now a permanent scheme, as decided by Newham Cabinet on 17 January 2022.
Currently the project team is reviewing potential complementary and mitigating measures based on resident and stakeholder feedback, including improved infrastructure for disability access, additional pedestrian and cycle crossings, changes to traffic management, traffic calming measures, and improved pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

Cabinet Report: Sustainable Transport and Highways – Covid19 Response (11 June 2020)
This report sets out the project as part of its COVID-19 response - to reduce through traffic on residential streets, and to further enable more people to walk and cycle safely as part of their daily routine.

Draft design for permanent modal filter on Colgrave Road – we want to hear what you think
The Maryland people-friendly streets scheme was made permanent in January 2022. As part of this scheme, there is a modal filter on Colgrave Road, which helps prevent motorised vehicles from using local streets as a cut-through. Currently, this modal filter is a simple wooden planter box, which was suitable for the experimental people-friendly streets scheme. Now that the scheme is permanent, there is an opportunity to create a modal filter which enhances the look and feel of Colgrave Road.

Feedback in-person
Project officers will be on-site at the Colgrave Road modal filter on Tuesday 2 June from 2:00pm to 6:00pm to meet local people and discuss the proposed permanent modal filter. This is another opportunity to ask questions and see the design in more detail.
