What is vitamin D and why is it important?
Vitamin D helps keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy. People who don’t have enough vitamin D are more likely to fall or break bones.
A good source of vitamin D is sunlight, but it can be hard to get enough in winter as the sun is not strong enough for the body to make vitamin D.
It is difficult to get enough vitamin D from food alone so doctors recommend taking vitamin D supplements (tablets) during winter to keep healthy.
Free vitamin D Supplements for Newham residents over 65
Newham residents aged 65 or over are eligible for free vitamin D supplements to help you stay healthy this autumn and winter.
