Newham Licensing can confirm that pubs and bars are permitted to remain open until 5:00 AM for the England vs Mexico fixture.
Licensed Hours
Venue operators are reminded that these extended hours apply only to premises that already hold the relevant authorisation under their premises licence. All existing licence conditions remain legally binding, including (but not limited to):
- Door supervision requirements (where applicable)
- Noise management conditions
- Last entry and admission cut-off times
- Any other conditions attached to the premises licence
Responsible Alcohol Service
Premises are strongly encouraged to promote responsible alcohol consumption and take appropriate steps to prevent excessive intoxication. This is particularly important given the early kick-off time and the extended period during which alcohol may be consumed.
Welfare & Vulnerability
Newham Council and local policing teams continue to support the Ask for Angela initiative. Many licensed premises have also received Welfare and Vulnerability Engagement (WAVE) training to help staff respond appropriately and discreetly to customers who may feel unsafe or vulnerable.
Customers requiring assistance can discreetly approach a member of staff and ask for "Angela". Trained staff will understand this as a request for support and can take appropriate action, such as helping the individual move to a safe space, arranging transport, contacting security, or contacting the emergency services where necessary.
Crowd & Exit Management
Premises should have effective plans in place to safely manage large crowds, particularly during the early morning dispersal period. Where required, SIA-registered door supervisors should be clearly visible and all exits and escape routes must remain unobstructed to minimise congestion and ensure public safety.
Community Impact
Venue operators are asked to take all reasonable steps to minimise noise outside their premises, particularly during customer dispersal in the early hours of Monday morning. Please encourage customers to leave the area quietly and be considerate of neighbouring residents.
