Qualifying as an asset of community value

Assets of community value

An asset of community value (ACV) is land or property of importance to a local community which has additional protection from development under the Localism Act 2011. More information on Assets of Community Value can be found on the MyCommunity website.

A building or land can be listed as an asset of community value if it:

  • Is currently being used, or was used in the last five years for activities which improve the social wellbeing and interests of the local community
  • Will continue to be used for at least the next five years for activities which improve the social wellbeing and interests of the local community.

It could be your local:

  • Pub
  • Shop
  • Library
  • Community centre
  • Sports centre
  • Playing field.
