Age Friendly Communities
Following the launch of its Ageing Well Strategy, the council was awarded the Age-Friendly Community Status in July 2022 and this provided Newham the opportunity to be part of World Health Organisation’s global network of age-friendly cities and communities in steering our work in building a fairer Newham
As an Age-Friendly Community area, Newham has since then continued working closely with The Centre for Ageing Better, residents and its partners including the local NHS and community, faith and voluntary sector to improve the health and wellbeing of Newham residents aged 50+ and reduce health inequalities and to build an Age-Friendly culture
This will ensure the Council and its partners deliver meaningful changes to make Newham a place where all residents and employees aged 50+ can be healthy and age well
