Be Connected - Support for Chronic Loneliness
Struggling with loneliness? You’re not alone
If you’re finding it hard to leave the house, reconnect with others, or rediscover a sense of purpose, our Be Connected Team is here to help.
One-to-one support to help you reconnect
We offer up to six weeks of personalised, one-to-one support for residents who are not eligible for Care Act services but are experiencing chronic loneliness.
Our Be Connected Officers work with you to build confidence, explore interests, and take small steps toward meaningful connection. Together, we’ll create a tailored action plan to help you:
- Reconnect with your community.
- Rediscover hobbies and passions.
- Build routines that support your wellbeing.
- Find meaning and purpose in everyday life.
Information, advice and guidance
We can help you find local activities and services that suit your interests and comfort level. Free opportunities in Newham for example, Gardening and walking groups, Chess and knitting clubs, Carer support groups, Gentle exercise classes and Volunteering opportunities.
Our Development Officers also support residents to shape new services and start community groups. If you have an idea, we can help make it happen.
Make a referral
If you or someone you know is experiencing loneliness and/or social isolation and could benefit from support, you can make a referral to the Be Connected service.
You can refer yourself, a friend, family member, or someone you support in a professional capacity. Referrals are open to Newham residents aged 18+ who are experiencing chronic loneliness or social isolation and would benefit from personalised, one-to-one support.
Please note, this service is for residents who are not eligible for Care Act support from adult social care so if someone’s needs are already being met through Care Act services, they may not be eligible for Be Connected support.
Complete the referral form to get started and a member of our team will be in touch to discuss next steps.
