If you would like to talk to someone about mental health support talk to your doctor (GP) to provide you with advice.  Specialist services that you can also contact directly include:

Newham Talking Therapies provides NHS psychological therapies for people over 18 years old to help with common mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression.  A translator can be provided for any communication needs.  Speak to your doctor or self-refer online.

Alternatively you can call on 0208 175 1770 Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Newham Talking Therapies also provides weekly workshops.

More support for people over 18 years of age and older can be found on the support leaflets in the box ‘Help with emotional and mental health’.

For Children and Young People

CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service) is a specialist mental health service for children and young people. Your doctor, school or school nurse can make a referral. There are lots of useful resources and workshops for families at www.elft.nhs.uk/camhs

ChatHealth is a confidential text messaging service for 11-19 year olds. It is a quick and easy way for young people to access health advice and support. A qualified nurse can respond to messages, Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00 (excluding Bank Holidays). Messages will be responded to within 24 working hours.
