Why do we need a Diverse Needs Strategy?
Housing services have often been designed to work the same way for everyone, instead of meeting each person's individual needs.
This can mean:
- tenants can miss out on important information because it is not communicated to them in a way they can access or understand
- staff don’t always have the right information about residents’ particular needs when visiting them at home
- language or hidden disabilities can make it harder to get help
- data (digital information) about tenants’ needs isn’t kept up to date
If we do not respond properly to our tenants’ needs, this can lead to delays in getting them the right help or support. It could also put their health or safety at risk.
Some of these changes will take time. This strategy sets out how we will get there.
