Apprenticeships in the council
An apprenticeship at Newham Council is more than just a job — it’s your chance to kickstart a career, gain qualifications, and make a real impact in your community. With a wide range of career paths to choose from, Newham residents can earn while they learn over a two-year programme, gaining hands-on experience and tailored support to help them grow.
You’ll get one day a week to focus on learning away — from your usual work to — study for a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification that matches your job. The rest of the time, you’ll be gaining real experience, working alongside friendly, skills professionals who’ll help guide and support you.
You don’t need formal qualifications to apply for many of our apprenticeships. An English and Maths assessment is part of the recruitment process to help check and understand your current level.
Whether you’re passionate about people, places, or public services, this is your opportunity to train within local government and help shape the future of Newham — all while building confidence and skills that lasts a lifetime
