Electric Vehicle Charging in Newham

Using our charging bays

Newham's dedicated electric vehicle charging bays are provided to enable drivers to charge their vehicles safely and conveniently. To help ensure these facilities remain available for everyone who needs them, please use the bays responsibly and always follow the restrictions shown on the roadside signs.

Charging bays are shared public facilities and are not allocated to individual vehicles or residents. They should only be used by vehicles that are actively charging.

Different types of charging points are subject to different parking restrictions, including maximum stay periods and, where applicable, permitted hours and no-return periods. Please check the roadside signs and the table below to ensure you are aware of the restrictions that apply to the charging bay you are using.

Where a maximum stay applies, this is the maximum permitted period that a vehicle may remain in the charging bay. It does not mean that a vehicle may remain in the bay for the full period once charging has finished. Where the applicable restriction requires the vehicle to be moved when charging is complete, drivers must move their vehicle promptly to allow the charging bay to be used by another vehicle.

Failure to comply with the applicable parking restrictions may result in a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
