Mayor
Dear Applicant,
Newham is an ambitious place. We need to be, because we refuse
to sit back and accept the deprivation this borough suffers. There
are very few places where families have less to live on than in
Newham. That means that a lot of people rely on our services and
rely on the opportunities we can create for them.
Our ambition is nothing less than a complete transformation of
this borough and the life chances of its people. It's a tall order
and one that's only possible because of the massive redevelopments
taking place; Canning Town, Stratford City, the 2012 Games,
Docklands regeneration. In a poor borough our language is of
aspiration and hope, because we know we have to inspire people to
want more.
Yet, we know that it's the hard work of our staff behind the
scenes that will decide whether we realise our ambition. We need
staff who can live up to this ambition, and who will help us
deliver the excellent services our residents deserve.
It's going to be a huge challenge. If you think you're up to it,
