We offer a range of parking permits to help you to park within the borough.

Types of parking permits

 

Apply for a parking permit

Online

You can now apply for the following parking permits online through My Newham:

In person

You can apply for the following permits in person at East Ham Customer Service Centre:
You can also apply for a resident, disabled or carer parking permit in person at  East Ham CSC, but only on Saturdays between 9am and 1pm. However if you wish to renew your permit, you must do this online.

By post

You can apply for a business parking permit by post.
 
If you apply by post you must pay by cheque or postal order made payable to 'London Borough of Newham'.

We recommend that you send your application by recorded delivery. We will return the original documents by recorded delivery.
 
 

Change of details

If you have changed your vehicle or address you will need to visit East Ham Customer Service Centre to update your permit.
 
The cost to make a change to your permit is £5.
 
Whatever the change you will need to bring your:
  • current parking permit
  • credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Delta, Maestro and Visa Electon) to pay the £5 permit replacement charge
  • Blue Badge number (if applicable).

Change of address

If you have changed your address you will also need to give us proof of your new address. This can include any one of the following:
  • driving licence
  • current Council Tax bill
  • bank/credit card statement dated within three months
  • utility bill dated within three months
  • current council rent book
  • welfare benefits letter dated within three months
  • Department for Work and Pensions letter dated within three months.

If you do not have any of these documents you can bring one of the following instead, however we will only be able to issue you with a six week temporary permit:

  • mortgage letter 
  • solicitors letter
  • tenancy agreement.
During the six week period you will need to bring in proof of your new address to be able to get a full permit.
 

Change of vehicle

If you have changed your vehicle you will need to give us proof of your new vehicle. This can be one of the following:
  • UK vehicle registration document (VSC/logbook)
  • lease/hire agreement.
If you have a company car or a business parking permit you will need to provide both:
  • your UK vehicle registration document (VSC/logbook) or lease/hire agreement
  • a letter from your employer on headed paper dated within three months that confirms your name and address.
If you do not have any of these documents, we will only be able to give you a temporary six week permit. You must bring:
  • UK vehicle registration supplement (V5C/2 logbook supplement)
  • sales receipt/invoice
  • certificate of motor insurance.
To get a full permit, during the six week period you must bring one of the following documents:
  • UK vehicle registration document (VSC/logbook)
  • lease/hire agreement
  • a letter from your employer on headed paper dated within three months.
 

Cancelling a parking permit

If you have moved out of a Newham residential parking zone, or no longer need your parking permit, you should post it to us at:

Applying for a refund

If you paid for your permit you can apply for a refund if the value of the unused time left on the permit is equal to £10 or more. We work out the amount of unused time by calculating the number of whole calendar months left on the permit from the date we receive it.
 
To apply for a refund you should return the original permit with a letter explaining why you would like a refund and the address where you'd like the refund to be sent to. Please send the letter and permit to:

You may wish to send your permit by registered post as we cannot be held responsible if it is undelivered.
You will receive a cheque within 28 days for the unused amount minus an administration fee of £5.
