Y-Zee TV

Budding young filmmakers are creating their own TV show

After two successful taster sessions, 16 young people are learning the technical and creative skills to make their own TV show – Y-Zee TV.

Y-Zee TV will be a magazine programme in the style of the The One Show and will be recorded on location at Stratford Youth Zone.

The show will be developed, presented, shot and produced by young people and will feature young people as its stars.

Y-Zee TV will be an eclectic mix of entertainment, comedy, music and documentary, and as well as guests and segments from the studio, each episode will also have feature reports based in and around Newham.

Youth Worker, Biff Nesbitt said: “The project started in October and the young people have already built up their confidence and technical skills.

“They have developed ideas for TV features which they started making in November for completion in December.”

The Y-Zee TV team have captured events at the youth zone during the October half term, including the Open Mic Night.

Biff added: “They are getting a lot out of it. For example, one of the young people who joined the project has been offered a trainee role in the film and media industry.

“Themes identified by the young people to feature in the TV show include identity, the experience of growing up in Newham, exchanges with senior leaders in Newham, a rap music spoof, technology and wellbeing.”
