Waste, Consumption & Recycling

Recycling waste correctly can help to curb greenhouse gas emissions. Find out how to reduce, reuse, and recycle here.

Have clothes and textiles you no longer use? Schedule a free home collection with Traid! This helps keep textiles out of landfill and extend the life of your previously loved products.

Recycling projects

  • Give your old clothes, bicycles and electrical devices a new lease of life through a Repair Café.
  • Free clothing swaps in locations across the borough hosted by East London Waste Authority and partner organizations. An example of past sales included a “Bring & ‘Buy’ Sale”. Participants simply bring along any books, clothes, CDs, videos, toys, games, knickknacks, etc. that you no longer need and swap for something you do. You can even host one yourself! Check out East London Waste Clothes Swap for more information.
  • Growbaby Newham provides free clothing and equipment for young children for anyone in need.
