How we celebrate Co-Production
How we celebrated Co-Production Week in 2026
We celebrated Co-Production Week on the 1st July at The Source (previously Stratford Youth Zone) for a joint event with Adults & Health and Children & Young People Services.
This year's theme was Equity in Care, and it was inspiring to see the work of the ‘Access All Areas' young adults’ theatre team, whose performance explored the themes of ‘'Access, Attitudes, Opportunity'. Attendees also heard powerful testimonials from the young people involved. Gideon, one of the performers, shared that Access All Areas has ‘helped me be seen and my voice heard’.
We spotlighted a range of co-production projects that our adult residents have been involved in over the past year, highlighting how our Co-Production Charter is being put into action.
In addition, we hosted a workshop with the Young Adult Preparation (YAP) Team to support the development of their YAP Forum. We heard from attendees who generously shared their experiences, insight and ideas to help shape the forum and ensure it meets the needs of young residents.
As always, the event was co-produced with residents and we’re grateful for Holly and Prity, as well as our wonderful Co-hosts Colin and Angus, for helping make the day such a success!

Celebrating lived experience and the power of Co‑Production
At our International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDoPwD) event in December 2025, Newham resident Marcus Morgan-Valentine shared his inspiring poem “My & Our Truths: All About Co-Production.” Reflecting the theme, “Fostering Disability Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress,” the poem celebrated the strength, insight and leadership of lived experience. It highlights how real progress happens when disabled people’s voices are central — shaping decisions and working in equal partnership to create more inclusive and fair systems.
How we celebrated Co-Production Week in 2025
On Wednesday 2nd July, the Highway Church buzzed with excitement as 80 enthusiastic participants gathered to celebrate Co-Production Week. This year's theme, "The Future of Co-Production," sparked engaging discussions on how we can achieve more with fewer resources, all while fostering a collaborative spirit.
The morning kicked off with a presentation highlighting of some of our Co-production achievements across Adults and Health, including Commissioning lead Resident Advisory Groups and Public Health Community Champions. The presentation was followed by an inspiring activity: the creation of a "Co-Production Tree." Attendees contributed to the roots, trunk, branches, and leaves, symbolizing our collective vision for Co-Production in Newham and the steps we need to take to get there. This vibrant tree will evolve into a comprehensive Co-Production Strategy by the autumn, guiding our future efforts.

Following the creative session, residents engaged in a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring some of our most knowledgeable and dedicated co-production practitioners, resident co-production leads, and representatives from the voluntary sector.
To conclude the event, everyone enjoyed a light lunch, providing a perfect opportunity to catch up and network. The atmosphere was further enlivened by a playlist curated by the attendees, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
Feedback from the event has been overwhelmingly positive. Residents appreciated the chance to reflect on our progress and celebrate our achievements together. The event not only highlighted the importance of Co-Production but also reinforced our commitment to working collaboratively towards a brighter future.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to develop our Co-Production Strategy and build on the momentum from this fantastic celebration!
