Loneliness Awareness Week
What is Loneliness Awareness week?
Loneliness Awareness Week is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness and encouraging open, honest conversations about how it affects us all. It’s about building supportive, connected communities—and everyone in Newham has a role to play.
The next campaign runs from 8–14 June 2026, hosted by Marmalade Trust, the UK’s leading loneliness charity for all ages. Now in its ninth year, the week brings together millions of people across the UK and beyond—from individuals and families to schools, businesses, charities, and public services.
Why It Matters in Newham
In Newham, we believe that connection is a shared responsibility. Whether you're reaching out to a neighbour, joining a local group, or volunteering your time, small actions can make a big difference.
Through our Be Connected campaign, we’re working to support residents who are experiencing chronic loneliness—and to create spaces where everyone feels welcome, valued, and part of something bigger.
