Learning Disability Week 2025

Every year Newham celebrates Learning Disability Week. The Learning Disability Resident Advisory Group told us that they wanted an event where they could eat and dance.

They wanted to learn about:

  • Keeping Healthy and Well
  • Activities to do in the community, and
  • Planning for the future

This was a week full of celebrations and activities around Newham (between the 16 to 22 June).

Hopeful Futures hosted a Bring and Share Picnic in the Olympic Park.

A range of adult education providers, employers and the DWP took part in Our Newham Learning and Skills first Inclusive Learning Coffee Morning, with an aim to improve pathways from courses to employment.

Newham had a staff 'Do You See Me?' event at Newham Dockside was well attended with 99 colleagues, most of whom made pledges about how to improve employment opportunities and accessibility of services for residents.

We finished off with a Celebration BBQ at Chargeable Lane Resource Centre. This was attended by 300 people.  We had a DJ, dancing and information stalls about the themes the Resident Advisory Group asked for.

We hope that you can join us in 2026.
